CVS Shopping Trip for the Weekly Ad of 3/18: CVS Shopper in Training Trip #3 ~ Share Yours {Linky}

Mom is sick this week so I was on my own.  I would like to give a big Thank You to Sarah for helping me to make my list.

I had plenty of stuff I could get, so I signed up for CVS emails with my card and received their $4/$20 reward coupon immediately.  I had thought it would take a long time to come through, but it was only a few minutes.

Everything went really well this week (good for me as I was by myself!).  They had everything on my list.  The only hitch was that the Colgate Sensitive Pro Relief was a toothbrush not toothpaste as my coupons were.  So in the end I got another Colgate Optic White which worked out fine.

I was also able to get 2 Got2b Smoothing Lustre Lotions.  This is one thing I absolutely cannot do without with my frizzy, crazy hair, so I
jumped at the chance to stock up.  This is a product I began using because my mom got it free at CVS.

Here is what I did:

$50 Shopper in Training CVS Gift Card Challenge Balances:

Total Saved:  $ 59.36   (including tax)
Total Value of Products Purchased:  $65.16  (without tax)
Original Gift Card Balance:  $ 39.16
Extra Buck Balance:  $ 11.00
Total CVS Spending Power:  $ 50.16  (GC balance and ECB balance combined)

This week's trip's details (Only one transaction this week because I had the $4/$20 to use and so put everything together to get up to the $20):

Saved:  $34.67 + $1.47  tax  =  $36.14  (some of my tax is paid on coupon values, this is the tax on the total product less the tax I paid--that is all I saved on tax)
Spent:  -$.34  + $1.19  tax = $ .85 (for some reason, the coupons put the subtotal in the negative and that in turn took off some of the tax)
Beginning Extra Bucks Balance: $11
Total Extra Bucks used:  $6
Total Extra Bucks earned:  $6
Ending Extra Bucks Balance:  $11

NOTE:  Because I often do multiple transactions my total extra bucks earned may differ from the ending extra buck balance and the total used may exceed the beginning balance as I use some from one transaction on another.

Transaction #1:

2 – Got2b Smoothing Lustre Lotion @ $3.99 Each Total $7.98
Used 2 - $3/1 Got2b manufacturer insert coupons
(this came out to $1 each which is higher than my $.50 limit, but I allocated some of my $4/$20 towards this because I love this stuff)

1 – Carefree Body Shape Pantiliners @ $1
Used 1 - $1/1 manufacturer insert coupon

1 – Colgate Optic White Toothpaste @ $3.49 get $2 ECB
Used 1 - $1/1 manufacturer insert coupon

1 – Schick Hydro5 Power Select @ $9.19 get $4 ECB
Used 1 - $4/1 manufacturer insert coupon
(this came out to higher than my $.50 limit I set for myself, but I allocated some of my $4/$20 towards it to bring it down)

Used 1 - $4/$20 CVS coupon (for signing up for email)

Spent:  -$.34 + $1.19 tax = $.85 paid
Extra Bucks used:  $6
Extra Bucks earned:  $6

As most of you know I am not currently shopping until after we move in April, but I have given my daughter a $50 "CVS Shopper In Training" CVS Gift Card Challenge and a $50 gift card I earned on Swagbucks.  As she learns to shop at CVS she will share her journey here at Simply CVS thru her "lessons and assignments" and her weekly shopping trips.  So here's Elizabeth's weekly trip:

Check out these and all of this week's CVS deals.  Also, read how I have learned (from others) how to "stack" the coupons in the right order to pay for tax.  Some states have to pay tax on extra buck usage and some don't so it may or may not affect your CVS shopping.  And if you don't have any, or many, extra bucks check out how to have the least out of pocket cash when beginning or check out these scenarios for spending just $5 or $10 out of pocket for several items.

Step by Step CVS Shopping for Beginners

I started a step by step lesson series on how to begin CVS shopping as I began as a "new shopper" with a new card and no extra bucks.  You can check out the series by clicking the banner to the left.

Readers' Gift Card Challenges

If you haven't joined us in the Simply CVS gift card challenge we'd love to have you do so.  Check out the details in this introductory post:  Join the Simply CVS Gift Card Challenge.  If you have joined already, leave a comment below with your most recent trip and/or totals.  If you blog about your challenge trip leave a link directly to your challenge shopping trip each week.  I would love it if you would add the Challenge button like the one here in your post or on your blog so your readers can join us and see what everyone is doing on their challenge (the code can be found in the link in the right hand side bar).

Earn CVS Gift Cards Online

If you haven't worked on earning free CVS gift cards online yet click the banner below and you can see a few different sources where I earn CVS gift cards from, along with free Paypal, to help with my CVS shopping (they offer other prizes, but CVS gift cards are my favorite).  If you'd like to learn how to earn more Swagbucks towards your prizes check out the Index to the Swag Bucks 101 Series of posts.

Did you find any good deals  from the CVS Weekly Ad of 3/18 to purchase?  Are you taking the Simply CVS. CVS Gift Card Challenge?  If you blog about your shopping trip I'd love for you to put a link to your post (a link back would be appreciated, but is not necessary); and if you don't blog please leave a comment below.  I really enjoy seeing what others get and it is a great way to learn how to CVS.  I learned from reading and reading and reading what others did. I am still learning!

PLEASE NOTE:  ONLY link to your CVS shopping post directly, all others will be removed.  I have had readers mention too many links are not to CVS shopping posts.

Thanks for sharing your Shopping Trip with us. I'm going to try the Got2b Smoothing Lustre lotion to see if it works for my out of control hair!
