CVS Shopping Trip for the Weekly Ad of 3/11: CVS Shopper in Training Trip #2 ~ Share Yours {Linky}

My shopping trip was different this week, because I had to wait until Thursday to go.  As a result, there were some things that were no longer on the shelves (Monday is truck day at our store).  They did not have the Zyrtec which was disappointing as that was a moneymaker, but I was able to get a rain check for that as well as the Reach and the Schick Hydro.  So I have filed those away for a future trip and I am excited about having something in my file to work with!

I scanned my CVS card at the Scanner and it printed out a $2 ECB!!! Just for scanning!  I was very excited about that.

Then I checked out and forgot to have the cashier scan my Green Bag Tag.  I was very disappointed, but I will try to do better next time.

Here is what I did and my $50 gift card challenges balances to date:

$50 Shopper in Training CVS Gift Card Challenge Balances:

Total Saved:  $ 23.22   (including tax)
Total Value of Products Purchased:  $ 30.83  (without tax)
Original Gift Card Balance:  $ 40.01
Extra Buck Balance:  $ 11.00
Total CVS Spending Power:  $ 51.01  (GC balance and ECB balance combined)

This week's trip's details (Only one transaction this week because I had the $3/$15 to use and so put everything together to get up to the $15):

Saved:  $17.68 + $.79  tax = $18.47  (some of my tax is paid on coupon values, this is the tax on the total product less the tax I paid--that is all I saved on tax)
Spent:  $2.98  + $.81  tax = $ 3.79
Beginning Extra Bucks Balance: $5
Total Extra Bucks used:  $7  (Last week’s $5 + the $2 from the scanner)
Total Extra Bucks earned:  $13  ($2 ECB received from scanner)
Ending Extra Bucks Balance:  $11

NOTE:  Because I often do multiple transactions my total extra bucks earned may differ from the ending extra buck balance and the total used may exceed the beginning balance as I use some from one transaction on another.

Transaction #1:

2 – Irish Spring Deodorant @ 2/$7 get $4 ECB 2 $1/1 Irish Spring Deodorant Maufacturer’s Insert Coupons
Used 2 - $1/1 Irish Spring Deodorant manufacturer insert coupon

1 – Pedia Care Liquid 4oz @ $5.99 get $5 ECB
Used 1 - $1/1 PediaCare Product manufacturer insert coupon

1 – Colgate Optic White Toothpaste 4oz @ $3.99 get $2 ECB
Used 1 - $1/1 Colgate Optic White manufacturer insert coupon
(Even with the coupon, this is above my $.50 per item limit I have set, but the $3/$15 took  care of the extra)
I will be using this in my Operation Christmas Child Shoebox, but I will be swapping it out with another tube in my stockpile that is more child friendly.)

Used 1 - $3/$15 CVS Coupon (earned from telling a pharmacy story onCVS FB page)

Spent:  $2.98 + $.81 tax
Extra Bucks used:  $7
Extra Bucks earned:  $11

As most of you know I am not currently shopping until after we move in April, but I have given my daughter a $50 "CVS Shopper In Training" CVS Gift Card Challenge and a $50 gift card I earned on Swagbucks.  As she learns to shop at CVS she will share her journey here at Simply CVS thru her "lessons and assignments" and her weekly shopping trips.

Check out these and all of this week's CVS deals.  Also, read how I have learned (from others) how to "stack" the coupons in the right order to pay for tax.  Some states have to pay tax on extra buck usage and some don't so it may or may not affect your CVS shopping.  And if you don't have any, or many, extra bucks check out how to have the least out of pocket cash when beginning or check out these scenarios for spending just $5 or $10 out of pocket for several items.

Step by Step CVS Shopping for Beginners

I started a step by step lesson series on how to begin CVS shopping as I began as a "new shopper" with a new card and no extra bucks.  You can check out the series by clicking the banner to the left.

If you haven't worked on earning free CVS gift cards online yet click the banner below and you can see a few different sources where I earn CVS gift cards from, along with free Paypal, to help with my CVS shopping (they offer other prizes, but CVS gift cards are my favorite).  If you'd like to learn how to earn more Swagbucks towards your prizes check out the Index to the Swag Bucks 101 Series of posts.

Did you find any good deals  from the CVS Weekly Ad of 3/11 to purchase?  Are you taking the Simply CVS. CVS Gift Card Challenge?  If you blog about your shopping trip I'd love for you to put a link to your post (a link back would be appreciated, but is not necessary); and if you don't blog please leave a comment below.  I really enjoy seeing what others get and it is a great way to learn how to CVS.  I learned from reading and reading and reading what others did. I am still learning!

PLEASE NOTE:  ONLY link to your CVS shopping post directly, all others will be removed.  I have had readers mention too many links are not to CVS shopping posts.
