No CVS Shopping Trip for 2/19/2012 Ad ~ But Increased the Balance of My $50 Gift Card Challenge

As most of you know, I am currently doing a $50 Beginner's CVS Gift Card Challenge seeing how much I can get for a $50 gift card I earned on Swagbucks with a new CVS Extra Care Card just like a new shopper would be able to get.   I began with a $50 gift card and zero extra bucks.  By utilizing the CVS Extra Buck & Cash Card deals, coupons and rebates at times my actual CVS spending power will be more than my original $50 Gift Card.

I have also mentioned that we recently made an offer on a house and are in the process of packing and fixing our current house for putting on the market so I have decided to put shopping on hold until after the move.  But my CVS gift card challenge seems to be going on without shopping--
a little consolation for missing all of these weeks of deals .  I received one of my outstanding mail in rebates from the gift card challenge purchases this week.  It was for $5 so after the cost of the stamp I was able to add $4.56 to my challenge balance.

$50 Beginner's CVS Gift Card Challenge Balances:

Total Saved:  $ 1343.57  (including tax)
Total Value of Products Purchased:  $ 1325.88 (without tax)
Original Gift Card Balance:  $ 30.56
CVS Cash Cards Earned on CVS Deals Balance: $ 28.98
Extra Buck Balance:  $ .00 (I spent all of my extra bucks in two weeks ago so they wouldn't expire before I begin shopping again after our move)
Mail In Rebate Cash Balances: $ 16.67 (this is money earned from rebates of items purchased in GC Challenge less postage to mail them in--I still have a few I am waiting on the checks from)
Total CVS Spending Power:  $ 76.21 (GC balances, rebate cash and ECB balance combined)

I started a step by step lesson series on how to begin CVS shopping as I began as a "new shopper" with a new card and no extra bucks.

Hi Cheryl,

I just moved and it is a pain. I wish you luck. It is always nice when it is over.

Thanks, Kristen. Your comment made me smile--I just sat down to take a break from packing and this is the first thing I saw. It is literally a pain! My muscles are always in pain, and this is just added to it -- the physical work as well as the stress. After 30+ years of marriage, two adult daughters at home and moving my mom, too, we have five adults and their possessions to move--including my mom's house of furniture. Some days I think I must be crazy for trying :-).

I love that you are still adding to your balance, even without shopping!

Good luck with everything Cheryl!

Well, your site and you make me smile so I am glad I could return the favor. Also, you win in the challenging move category. My move was just me from a 1 bedroom apartment to three blocks down to a 2 bedroom condo. Only having been in the apartment for three years though, I was horrified over the dust under my couch. I think of myself as a clean person but doing a move you really become intimate with the dust/dirt that accumulates in areas that you don't think about. Gross! I wondered if people moved their couch on a regular basis to clean under it. All I have to say is thank god for movers. Worth every penny!!

So glad to send smiles your way, Kristen. You are right about the dust, it goes where nothing else goes!
