My THIRD CVS Shopping Trip 12/11/2011 Ad ~ Small but a Money Maker: Trip #18 of the $50 Gift Card Challenge

Well, I had the opportunity to have my card scanned two more times and grab three more vitamins for another money making trip this week--my third.  There were still vitamins left on the shelf.  This turned into a great week for me--increasing my CVS spending power by grabbing more CVS gift cards. This trip I only had a $10 extra buck so I didn't use it, I used a GC earned earlier instead.  I did get a $1 green bag tag extra buck which was nice. Sad thing is I am only $.20 short on my beauty club reward--that would have come in handy today.  Over all today I increased my CVS
spending power by $4.01; a total increase of $9.86 for the week.

I am currently doing a $50 Beginner's CVS Gift Card Challenge seeing how much I can get for a $50 gift card I earned on Swagbucks with a new CVS Extra Care Card just like a new shopper would be able to get.  The challenge will end when I run out of gift card and cash to be able to pay the tax.  I will  most likely have extra bucks left over, but without cash to pay the tax they are basically useless so this challenge will end.

$50 Beginner's CVS Gift Card Challenge Balances:

Total Saved:  $ 1134.57  (including tax)
Total Spent:  $ 61.10 (including tax)
Total Value of Products Purchased:  $  (without tax)
Gift Card Balance:  $  30.56*  (began with a $50 GC earned on Swagbucks)
Gift Cards Earned Balance :  $  38.34* (these are CVS gift cards earned on deals purchased with this $50 GC)
Cash from Rebates Balance:  $  9.56* (from rebates sent in on products purchased with this gift card--less stamps)
Extra Buck Balance:  $  11.00* (I began with no extra bucks with this gift card)
*Total CVS Spending Power Balance: $79.46

This trip's details (two transactions):

3 -- ProNutrient Vitamins
Used 2 -- $5 CVS Scanner coupons
Used 3 -- $5 Manufacturer Printable Coupons
1 -- CVS Gift Card
Used 1 -- Free Gift Card coupon received from the vitamin purchase

Saved:  $ 43.40 + $ 1.24 tax = $ 44.64  (some of my tax is paid on coupon values, this is the tax on the total product less the tax I paid--that is all I saved on tax)
Spent:  $ 4.97 + $ 2.02 tax = $ 6.99
Beginning Extra Bucks Balance: $ 10.00
Total Extra Bucks used:  $ .00
Total Extra Bucks earned:  $ 1.00 (green bag tag reward)
CVS Gift Card Earned:  $10.00

NOTE:  Because I often do multiple transactions my total extra bucks earned may differ from the ending extra buck balance and the total used may exceed the beginning balance as I use some from one transaction on another.

Check out these and all of this week's deals.  Also, read how I have learned (from others) how to "stack" the coupons in the right order to pay for tax.  Some states have to pay tax on extra buck usage and some don't so it may or may not affect your CVS shopping.  And if you don't have any, or many, extra bucks check out how to have the least out of pocket cash when beginning or check out these scenarios for spending less than $5 or $10 out of pocket for several items.

I got a rain check for 3 bottles. My cvs said they will get more on Wednesday so i am hoping to still get the gift card with them. She wrote gift card on the rain check so i assume i will.

So lucky you were able to get the vitamins. I also went to 5 CVS around and they were all out!

I need to stock up on vitamins, too!

I also got a rain check since I couldn't find them. I know they were working with 3, but since they would have to do it manually and the rain check says "if you spend $30..." won't that be a problem?

Cris, I would say it depend on your store. If they are knowledgeable and know they print a few cents under you will be fine. And actually, their ads say they do not give gift cards on the rainchecks, but some stores seem to be writing rain checks for them, so you may run into a problem there, too.

Debbie, I was shocked that no one but myself was buying these at my store.

I ended up getting a rain check on two boxes of Pronutrients. They get shipments in on Friday's and no more for the deal, I only needed the two boxes to get another $10 GC. Picked up my two boxes on Monday...hmmm and they had them in stock again, odd. Wasn't thrilled with that, but hey...two bottles of free vitamins is still good in my books. :)
