My CVS Shopping Trip 11/6 ~ Week #9 of $50 GC Challenge Saved $55

When I looked over the deals from the 11/6 CVS Weekly Ad I didn't think I'd be bringing home much, but as always, CVS never ceases to amaze me.

My only extra buck deal was the buy three Hallmark cards get $3--so I got three 99 cent cards free.  I had two of the Illy cafe drink scanner coupons from last week so picked those up free.  We were one of the few areas that got the $2/2 Softsoap coupons and our store had plenty in stock.  I also picked up a free bottle of Nature Made Vitamin C with coupons and will send away for a full rebate on the Lysol wipes.  I also threw in a Halloween clearance item for my Operation Christmas Shoebox which is due this weekend.  So overall it turned into a very good week.  Once again, my "spending power" at CVS increased from last week (see the details below).

I am currently doing a $50 Beginner's CVS Gift Card Challenge seeing how much I can get for a $50 gift card I earned on Swagbucks with a new CVS
Extra Care Card just like a new shopper would be able to get.

Total Saved:  $ 485.21  (including tax)
Total Spent:  $ 20.45 (including tax)
Total Value of Products Purchased:  $ 474.95 (without tax)
Gift Card Balance:  $ 30.56
Extra Buck Balance:  $ 13.00 (I began with no extra bucks with this gift card)
Gift Cards Earned in CVS Deals Balance:  $ 18.99
Total Current CVS Spending Power:  $ 62.55 (GC balance + CVS GC earned balance + Extra Buck Balance)
Rebates sent in, not received yet:  $12.50 (less two 44 cent stamps)--I will add this amount onto my gift card when I receive the checks)

This week's trip's details:

Saved:  $  55.61 + $ 2.41 tax = $ 58.02 (some of my tax is paid on coupon values, this is the tax on the total product less the tax I paid--that is all I saved on tax)
Spent:  $  -.31 + $ 1.32 tax = $ 1.01
Beginning Extra Bucks Balance: $ 9.00
Total Extra Bucks used:  $ 5.00
Total Extra Bucks earned:  $ 9.00 (received a $5 CVS Beauty Club Extra Buck at the Scanner and a $1 Green Bag Tag Extra Buck when I checked out)
Ending Extra Bucks Balance:  $ 13.00

NOTE:  Because I often do multiple transactions my total extra bucks earned may differ from the ending extra buck balance and the total used may exceed the beginning balance as I use some from one transaction on another.

Transaction #1 (just one today):

3 -- Hallmark Cards @ $.99 each (buy three get $3 in extra bucks)
4 -- SoftSoap Foaming Hand @ $.99 each
Used 2 -- $2/2 manufacturer coupon from recent insert
4 -- SoftSoap Mango Hand Soap @ $.99 each
Used 1 -- $2/2 manufacturer coupon from recent insert
Used 2 -- $.75/1 manufacturer coupon from recent insert
2 -- Illy Cafe drinks @ $2 each
Used 2 -- CVS free Illy Drink scanner coupon from last week (they each scanned for the full $2.49)
1 -- Nature Made Vitamin C @ $9.29
Used 1 -- $3/1 Nature Made CVS coupon
Used 1 -- $7/1 Nature Made Manufacturer Coupon (from Nature Made Wellness Reward)
1 -- Lysol Dual Action Wipes @ $2.50
I did not have a coupon, but will send the receipt in for a full refund (less the stamp)--by waiting for it to go on sale I saved on tax
1 -- Halloween Clearance Toy @ $.49

Spent:  $ -.31 + tax
Extra Bucks used:  $ 5.00
Total Extra Bucks earned:  $ 9.00 (received a $5 CVS Beauty Club Extra Buck at the Scanner and a $1 Green Bag Tag Extra Buck when I checked out)

Check out these and all of this week's deals.  Also, read how I have learned (from others) how to "stack" the coupons in the right order to pay for tax.  Some states have to pay tax on extra buck usage and some don't so it may or may not affect your CVS shopping.  And if you don't have any, or many, extra bucks check out how to have the least out of pocket cash when beginning or check out these scenarios for spending less than $5 or $10 out of pocket for several items.

Picked up a Stovetop stuffing for $1. It had a coupon for $1/2 in the box. So I bought 4 more at .50 each with more coupons in the boxes!! Specially marked on upper left corner.

Nice find, Anon!

Softsoap must count towards your Beauty Club rewards because I received the $5 after buying them. I have not purchased any other beauty club items recently.

Yes they do, Anon! I was thrilled to find that out.
