$50 CVS Gift Card Challenge Update ~ Saved $518 so Far ~ CVS Spending Power Balance $67

I thought I'd give an update on my $50 CVS Gift Card Beginner's Challenge since I have shopped 11 times with it in 9 weeks.  Since I had a few more of the $2/2 Soft Soap coupons and my husband was running to town on Saturday I had him run in to pick up some more for me--or a rain check.  He was able to get eight  more and paid $.53 tax only.  An extra buck for the beauty club printed, too, so my extra bucks increased by $5.  Below are my balances so far and a tally of all the items I have purchased so far.  By
participating in the spend $30 get $10 gift card deal twice I was able to get two more gift cards which will help make my $50 GC last even longer.

I'd love to hear how you all are doing on yours.  Please leave comments with your current totals and a link to your blog posts if you have blog about it.  If you have completed your challenge, give us your finally totals.

I earned a $50 gift card  on Swagbucks to begin with and got a new CVS Extra Care Card just like a new shopper would be able to get.   I began with zero extra bucks.

$50 Beginner's CVS Gift Card Challenge Balances:

Total Saved:  $ 518.75  (including tax)
Total Spent:  $ 20.98 -- some of this is off of the GCs I earned in deals @ CVS (including tax)
Total Value of Products Purchased:  $ 506.87 (without tax)
Gift Card Balance:  $ 30.56
Extra Buck Balance:  $ 18.00 (I began with no extra bucks with this gift card)

CVS GC Balance (earned on deals @ CVS):  $ 18.46
Total CVS Spending Power:  $ 67.02 (GC balance and ECB balance combined)

I am really jealous of your $2/2 soft soap coupons. I didn't get any. I actually looked through those inserts about three times to make sure. I am curious how many newspapers you order or how you get your coupons (ie through a clipping service). Actually as I write this, I think I recall you mentioning that your husband's coworkers give you their coupons. I only have one newspaper delivered to me and occasionally buy an additional or get coupons from a couple of my friends. I would be curious how others get their coupons. I sometimes have trouble printing the various coupons online and if it is regional that is code for "I am not getting one in my paper".

Kristen, I was shocked we got it. And funny thing is it was in the little town paper, not the big one this time. Yes, his co-workers have kept me in coupons. They know I donate a lot of items so they like to pass them on. Once in a while I do use a clipping service--but more for groceries that I need. Here is a post I wrote about finding coupons and there are hints as to where I have read others getting them: http://www.simplycvsshopping.com/2010/12/where-to-find-manufacturers-money.html . I only buy one paper, too.

Cheryl, you have covered it all. I really appreciate you and your site. I also love donating when I can. It makes the hobby of couponing even more enjoyable. Also, my niece told my sister "I love Auntie Kristen. She even makes CVS fun!" She is my little trainee. I will be dragging both the nieces to Black Friday.

LOL, Kristen--she has learned young just how fun CVSing can be! How neat to take them Black Friday.

I went to CVS on Sunday morning to get the soft soap, the smaller bottles were the only ones for 99 cents. The ad was not completely set yet, so I got the taller foamy bottles. They were not on sale. How can they be on sale at your CVS and not mine????

Cheryl, this is just phenomenal! I love the way you are using these gift card deals to basically increase the up front value of your gift card. You are amazing, and this is why your website is so successful.

I am so proud to be able to call you my friend Cheryl! The master of CVS shopping.

wow this is amazing. I just started couponing last month and I think I found the best site to follow. I want to do this challenge too. So far I spent $15.18 oop at CVS and I have $15 worth of ecbs that I think is perfect for this black friday deals coming up.

Phyllis, I have read of these being 99 cents across the country. They weren't marked at most stores, but they scanned at 99 cents. The ad had sizes and it included the larger sizes. Do you happen to be in California? I have read they often have different deals.

Well, thank you, JR. I may be the master of CVSing, but you are the Frugal Living with a Queenly Style master! I, too, and glad to call you a friend--maybe someday we will actually meet :-).

Sounds perfect, Mizmonie. Use those $15 on the free after extra bucks deals and then use those on more and keep rolling. So glad to have you aboard!

Great job Cheryl!! Like Kristen I too am jealous of your soap coupons. Didn't get them in my S. FL paper. I'm actually taking a break this week from CVS. Although I a might stop in just to visit the Magic Red Machine. Looking forward to the special deals coming up! :) Have a beautiful day.

Did you buy all your softsoaps in one order? I have a raincheck for the softsoap and I am planning on getting 10 bottles so I can share with my family members. I have 10 75cent off coupons....I was just curious if I would be able to do all in one transaction. Thanks

Cheryl said...

Yes I did, Kendra, I don't think that particular coupon says limit per transaction--but you may want to double check the fine print to be sure. I love getting extra to share, too. Makes CVSing so much more fun.
