Share Your CVS Shopping Trip for the Weekly Ad of 9/25/2011

Looks like I won't make it to CVS again this week, but Sarah may do my deal shopping for me.  Did you find any good deals  from the CVS Weekly Ad of 9/25 to purchase?  If you blog about your shopping trip I'd love for you to put a link to your post (a link back would be appreciated, but is not necessary); and if you don't blog please leave a comment below.  I really enjoy seeing what others get and it is a great way to learn how to CVS.  I learned from reading and reading and reading what others did. I am still learning!

If you'd like to see some saavy shopping at other stores, or if you'd like to link up your CVS deals trips to other places here are a few to check out.  If you are
a blogger and have a weekly savings linky and would like it added, leave a link to it in a comment below and I will add it.

PLEASE NOTE:  ONLY link up to your CVS shopping post directly, all others will be removed.  I have had readers mention too many links are not to CVS shopping posts.

If you have a linky on your blog and are linking up here, add "link up" to your title below so readers can link up at your blog, too.

$4.70 2 Colgate Optic White (rung up at $2.35 ea instead of $2.99)
$8.99 1 Schick Quattro for women razor
- $4.99 1 Free Pantene
- $2.00 Softsoap $1x2
- $2.00 Kotex-U $1x2
- $1.50 Kotex-U CVS coupon
- $3.00 Colgate Optic White
- $5 Schick
- $1 Trident
-12 ECB

Got back $11 in ECBs ($4 Schick, $4 Softsoap, $1 Kotex, 1 Trident, $1 Pantene)

Didn't notice until I got home $2 ECB for Colgate Optic White didn't print out and that they rung up at a lower price. AND I forgot the coupons for them. Oh well. They came out to 85c a tube instead of $1MM. I'll live.

It is frustrating when something doesn't come out right. You can call 800shopcvs and tell them they didn't print. Another reader reported doing that and they attached them to her card. you still had a fantastic trip! I often give heads up on great printables and then forget to print them myself--like the Schick. Glad you got it.

I had an okay day at CVS. I did two transactions after the cashier advised me i could by two excedrin instead of one like I thought. I did the second transactions with the followin ECB's .99x2=$1.98 for Excedrin and $3.79 for Thermal Care to buy Schick Quattro. This is where it got tricky $1.98 + $3.79+ $4.00 coupon i received by mail for razor. This made me have $9.77 with coupon and EBC's. The cashier told me I should never use ECB on things that I would get other ECB's on.. (he didn't understand rolling ECB's) but he took away $.78 off of my ECB's without even asking. I would have grabbed something else to make up the $.78 if I was given an option. It really made me mad but it's a lesson learned next time I need to make sure I have my handy dandy calculator.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Anon, I have read of that several times--and often for more than $.78--they usually ask first. I know you hate loosing that.

Where have I been? Did CVS change their coupon policy to be similar to walgreens in that you must have equal number of items as you do coupons? Today I had a little bit of trouble with my check out at CVS and the cashier told me the problem was I had more coupons than items so the manager would have to over ride.

Did I miss something here? Was a change made? :/

I had a fun time yesterday at CVS. 85% Savings and lots of Hershey bars. Spent $6.11, Saved $41.21. I

If I bought 2 and got 1 free from the weekly ad deal, how many B1G1 coupons do you think I could have used?

It got a little hairy when doing the Hershey's $3 ECB deal because there is also a Hershey's B2G1 deal -AND- I had a bunch of coupons for One Free Hershey's Air bar WYB a Hershey bar. I still have a challenging time wrapping my brain around a deal like that.
Paid $6.11 -- Value $41.21 -- Saved 85%
Started with -0- ECB -- Finished with $1.98 ECB
Transaction #1
1 ThermaCare Heat Wrap, back & hip

Total Value = 4.19
Total Paid = 3.79
Total Saved = 0.40
ECBs Rec'd = 3.79
Transaction #2 (I really like this Hershey Deal)*
2 (New) Hershey Drops, 8 oz.
6 Hershey bars, single size, B2G1 (so I paid for only 4)
6 Hershey Air bars, single size, (these were all FREE)

Total Value = 22.07
Total Paid = 1.59
Total Saved = 20.48
New ECBs Received = $3.00

Coupons & ECBs Used =
$2/2 Hershey Drops CVS Store coupon
$1/1 Hershey Drops (used 2)
6 BOGO - Hershey Air bar single size WYB another Hershey bar
Transaction #3
2 Bumble Tuna, 5 oz cans
1 Homedics Travel Sound Machine (clearance bin)
2 Excedrin, 8 caplets

Coupons & ECBs Used =
$1/2 Bumble Bee
$3 ECB from Transaction #2

Total Value = 14.95
Total Paid = 0.73
Total Saved = 14.22
ECBs Received = 1.98

Livingleaner, not exactly, but they have made changes. You can only have one man. and one cvs coupon per item and then as many ecbs as you'd like. Every once in a while my register will say something like that even when I don't have a coupon for every item, I am not sure why it does that. Here is a link to the post about the new policy if you missed it:

I'd love one of those machines, Coupon Clipper, I noticed you shared it on the clearance post. You had a great trip. Okay with the new coupon policy and you can only use coupons on what you pay for I still get confused--I would say you use one coupon for every three you buy as you are buying 2 only (the store gives you one). But I see on WUC that they say you can use more, they have buy 6 and use three coupons even though you are only paying for four. Yet CVS has said you can use a B1G1 on a B1G1 sale and get both free--so it stands to reason to treat B1G1 free coupons just as if there is no sale (which it looks like you did). I wish they would have written a little more detail in their new written coupon policy--like B1G1 qs and B1G1 sales.

Thanks for your insight, Cheryl, about the B2G1 store deal + B1G1 coupon. What a "yummy" deal that Hershey's was. I want to take my cousins there and do the whole thing again, but I don't have more of the great $2/1 store coupon for the Hershey Drops.

It is still confusing to me. When I read the new CVS policy on WUC, I didn't see the "get one free" coupons covered. Because of that, it seems like they should accept one B1G1 Q for each of the 3 hershey bars that get scanned for the B2G1 deal. That's what the cashier accepted, so did the machine. It "seems" to correlate with the official policy.... I think. :-0

I almost took last week off except I love cetaphil and thought I should take advantage of the $2ECBs being offered. So I bought it using $6.97 ECBs, spent about $2 and got $2 ECBs back, which leads me to this week. Debating about the softsoap and schick deal but don't need body wash or razors so just stuck to the basics. Will probably put a bag together to donate some toiletries I have been accumulating.

$2.99 Colagate optic white toothpaste
-$1.50 mq from sunday insert
$3.29 Carmex tinted lip stuff
Used $2 ECB from cetaphil
Paid $3.11 incl. tax
Received $1 ECB and will get $2.99 rebate back from carmex (loving the new rebate info..thanks!)

Then I used the $1 and bought
$.99 Excedrin
Paid $0
Received $.99 ECB

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Yes, I think that is what it should be as to what they have said about B1G1 qs with B1G1 sales over the phone--but it is not in the policy. The policy is confusing since it said no coupon will be allowed on the free item yet they have told others yes on the B1G1 sales! Soooooo confusing.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Kristen, it is interesting what we end up getting on "slow" weeks. :-) I love getting what I can free for donating. It is fun to find ways to give it. My favorite was little bags we made up one year for teen girls in a group home. We were able to find out their ages (no names) and make each one a little different and special.

Will keep my eyes open for more rebates.

Great week for your challenge, Deal Seeker. Even though you reduced your spending power you got a lot of stuff! Great that you can help your daughter out while she is unemployed--one of the joys of CVSing.

This was a last minute trip today. I went to CVS planning on picking up some Olay Face Wash on sale for $3.99 but got a couple more things.
Saw that they had the store brand of Goodnite underwear (which we need in my house) on sale for $6.99 plus a $2 ECB. So I purchased that. Paid $7 and change.

Next I bought
(2) of the Olay Face wash $3.99 Used $2.00 coupons
(1) Olay All Day moisturizer $3.99

Used the $2.00 in ECB plus a $.50 ECB from the magic machine.
Paid $7 and change for that as well.

Not a spectacular deal, but a good one considering I actually needed at this very moment. :)

Amy, seems like there is always some other deal to find when we think there isn't. :-).
