Share Your CVS Gift Card Challenge Shopping for the Week of 9/4/2011

Simply CVS Gift Card ChallengeHave you joined the CVS Gift Card Challenge?  If not think about joining me and other Simply CVS readers as we challenge ourselves to see how far we can make a Gift Card go.  I personally am challenging myself with a $50 CVS Gift card I earned free on Swag Bucks.  Other readers are doing $10, $25 or other amounts.  You don't even have to have a gift card--just keep track until you have spent the dollar amount you choose.  You can see all the details in the link above.

If you are taking the challenge and have shopped this week we'd love to see how you did, what your balance is and how much total savings you have so far.  If you blog about your trips leave a link in the linky form below (and I would love if you would grab the Gift Card Challenge button from the far right side bar here at Simply CVS and tuck it in your weekly Challenge Posts or in your sidebar so your readers can come by and see what others are doing).  If you don't blog share your totals or your whole trip
in the comment area below.

I started the challenge a few weeks ago after reading through all of the shopping trips Cheryl (Simply CVS) made week after week from her first challenge.

What really encouraged me to go ahead and try it on my own was seeing that in some weeks, she only picked up a couple of items. That's all that was available that "made sense" as far as rewarding enough extra care bucks and using coupons to cover the cost. It sounded impossible but then I looked at each shopping trip and I could see it was entirely doable!!!

You don't need tons of coupons to make this work either. One or two newspapers and following her links for the printables is all you need!

I've learned so much more by doing than I ever could have by reading!

Pat, I remember reading and reading and reading to get a grasp of what it was all about--then I was able to get the hang of it by practicing. You are right--this is not extreme couponing. I rarely have more than 2 or 3 of the same coupon.

I started a $25 challenge two months ago. So far I've gotten nearly $200 worth of stuff. I have $.02 left on my card and a $5 ECB. I did a transaction this week but didn't use my challenge ECBs. I purchased 4 bags of Starbursts, 1 Carefree pantiliner, and 1 Hershey's Air Delight bar. After coupons, I paid $5 I including tax and got $2.99 back in ECBs.

Great job, Amy. I hope I can stretch mine into hundreds.
