My CVS Shopping Trip for the Weekly Ad of 9/25 ~ Week 3 of $50 Gift Card Challenge: Saved 94%

I am still not venturing out of the house after my fall, so Sarah did my CVS shopping for this week.  They had everything in stock except for the Thermacare for which she got a rain check--wouldn't you know, I was looking forward to trying it out on my painful tailbone.  I've noted in each transaction anything out of the ordinary (which there always seems to be with CVSing).

I also increased my extra bucks just a little.  I used to like to keep $40 to $50 in extra bucks so if I got a $5/$35 or the like I would easily be able to use it and also only need to check out once a week. It has been harder
lately to keep that many rolling, but I am going to try and keep increasing them and the next $50 gift card challenge I will see if I can keep rolling a large quantity of them each week.

I am currently doing a $50 Beginner's CVS Gift Card Challenge seeing how much I can get for a $50 gift card I earned on Swagbucks with a new CVS Extra Care Card just like a new shopper would be able to get.

$50 Beginner's CVS Gift Card Challenge Balances:

Total Saved:  $ 128.42  (including tax)
Total Spent:  $  8.21 (including tax)
Total Value of Products Purchased:  $ 127.99 (without tax)
Gift Card Balance:  $ 41.79
Extra Buck Balance:  $ 11.67 (I began with no extra bucks with this gift card)

This week's trip's details:

Saved:  $ 28.97 + $ .53 tax = $ 29.50 (some of my tax is paid on coupon values, this is the tax on the total product less the tax I paid--that is all I saved on tax)
Spent:  $ .62 + $ 1.47  tax = $ 2.09
Beginning Extra Bucks Balance: $ 10.48
Total Extra Bucks used:  $ 13.79
Total Extra Bucks earned:  $ 14.98
Ending Extra Bucks Balance:  $ 11.67

NOTE:  Because I often do multiple transactions my total extra bucks earned may differ from the ending extra buck balance and the total used may exceed the beginning balance as I use some from one transaction on another.

Transaction #1:

1 -- Colgate Optic White @ $2.99 get $1 extra buck (this did not print so they printed manually, then when Sarah got home and we looked at the receipt we see it rang up at only $2.39--apparently from reports [thanks, Taika] these were accidentally marked as clearance across the country and that is why the extra bucks are not printing)
Used:  1 -- $1.50/1 Manufacturer coupon from a recent Sunday insert
1 -- $1/1 CVS printable coupon from their website

1 -- Renu Multipurpose Solution @ $8.99 get $7.00 extra bucks
Used:  1 -- $2/1 Manufacturer printable coupon (apparently no longer available)

Spent:  $ .09 + $.77  tax
Extra Bucks used:  $ 6.79
Extra Bucks earned:  $ 8.00

Transaction #2:

1 -- Colgate Optic White @ $2.99 get $1 extra buck (this did not print so they printed manually, then when Sarah got home and we looked at the receipt we see it rang up at only $2.39--apparently from reports [thanks, Taika] these were accidentally marked as clearance across the country and that is why the extra bucks are not printing)
Used:  1 -- $1.50/1 Manufacturer coupon from a recent Sunday insert
1 -- $1/1 CVS printable coupon from their website

2 -- Softsoap Hand Soap @ 2/$6 get $4 extra bucks
Used:  2 -- $.70/1 Manufacturer printable coupon

2 -- Excedrin Migrain @ $.99 each get $.99 extra bucks back each

Spent:  $ .53 + $ .70 tax
Extra Bucks used:  $ 7.00
Extra Bucks earned:  $ 6.98

Check out these and all of this week's deals.  Also, read how I have learned (from others) how to "stack" the coupons in the right order to pay for tax.  Some states have to pay tax on extra buck usage and some don't so it may or may not affect your CVS shopping.  And if you don't have any, or many, extra bucks check out how to have the least out of pocket cash when beginning or check out these scenarios for spending less than $5 or $10 out of pocket for several items.

I went back yesterday and my store finally stocked the Thermacare. Perfect timing too as my back's been killing me since I started Core exercising on Mon! They were still out of excedrin tho. I'm going to check again Fri and if it's not there, raincheck it will be :)

Hope you feel better soon!
