Home Again ~ But Accompanied By Pain

I shared with you all last week that we were heading out on a 500+ mile trip to visit my brother in law in the rehab hospital.  He is progressing much quicker than expected and actually took his first steps in over a month the first day we were traveling there.  We had the privilege of watching him "walk" about 40 feet one morning.

Because of my muscle pain and weakness caused by Fibromyalgia we break the trip into two days of traveling--stopping about every hour for stretching.  We stopped last night with about 3 1/2 hours driving left of the trip and spent the night.  My daughter Elizabeth took a shower and tripped falling out of the tub as the inside of the tub was about 4 to 6 inches higher than the floor of the room and she misjudged her step.  She warned me, over and over, to be careful, to remember that fact as
I stepped out this morning.  I dutifully remembered when I shut the shower off, but quickly forgot after grabbing my towel as my mind went to the trip.

To make a long story short:  OUCH!  Have you ever "flown thru the air with the greatest of ease" only to come down hard on a tile floor?  I am not sure what happened, but I think my tail bone hit the edge of the tub first as my feet flew out from under me.  My family heard screeches from me and clattering and bangs and found me lying flat on my back with my head against the tub, the toilet at my left elbow and my feet under the sink--in which position I stayed until I could catch my breath, the pain eased a bit and I was pretty sure I wasn't seriously injured.  I am bruised, swollen, scraped, etc. on my back and ache from head to toe.  Sitting is, well, let's say uncomfortable to impossible, and after four hours of sitting in the car (we missed an exit and added 30 minutes to the drive) I really don't know how I am going to feel.  Right now every inch of my body hurts--but I can already see some improvement (like the shooting pains down my legs is letting up).

So if you don't see me around here for a few days you'll know why, for as of now the pain is too intense to sit and hold the laptop and work on it.  And I guess my CVSing for this week is out.

That's awful, Cheryl; I'm sorry to hear that you're hurt. I hope you get better soon, but while you mend you might want to purchase a pillow to sit on. Or, if you already own a neck pillow, try to sit on that to alleviate your tail bone pain.
