Q. What types of pharmacy coupons do you accept?
A. Here are guidelines surrounding pharmacy coupons:
CVS/pharmacy does accept competitor coupon and transfer offers; however, matching or providing incentive for an automatic refill program is strictly prohibited. It is against CVS/pharmacy policy to accept this type of competitor coupon for enrollment in ReadyFill®.
Coupon offers are not valid and must not be honored for prescriptions paid for in whole or in part by state and or federal health care programs. These programs include Medicare, Medicaid and TriCare.
Coupons also are void where prohibited by law. Coupon offers are not valid for prescriptions purchased in the states of MA, NJ and NY, and on any prescription for a controlled dangerous substance in the states of HI and LA.
The gift card received from a coupon offer cannot be used to pay for the same purchase but can be used for future purchases.
CVS/pharmacy will not accept offers printed from unauthorized internet postings, copies or facsimiles of any offer. The original valid coupon must be presented at the time of purchase.

Nowhere do they directly address B1G1 Free sales and coupons.  But they do say:

“Note: Coupons cannot be applied to a "free" item.”

I'm glad to at least have a printed policy to bring to the store with me. My guess is they may come back to the Policy and tweek it a tiny bit once they start getting phone calls and emails from customers, along with questions from the stores asking for clarification.

It states "sales tax may be charged on pre-coupon price." Does anyone know why they would say "may be charged" and not "will be charged"? Is it up to the store or is are do states have different taxation rules on coupons.

I also found it it interesting that they put a line in there saying that "CVS/pharmacy reserves the right to process coupons in any order." That was the only surprise.

Different states do have different tax laws in regards to coupons. Also, a true CVS coupon is treated like a sale price so there is no tax charged on those.

Does this mean I cannot use suppose I say there is a target coupon for $1 off on charmin tp with a bar code that came out in the news paper or can I ? It's little confusing to understand for a newbie please help cheryl .

Cheryl said...

It's confusing for an oldie, too. lol But it sounds like if it has the Target logo on it they will not. So many of the current printables have that so we will miss out on a lot of savings.

Cheryl said...

Anon, they will write a rain check for any item normally stocked unless otherwise stated in the ad.

They never expire.
They can be used in any store.
You will receive the extra bucks just like during the sale.

IS there A limit to how many they give?if someone gave me a raincheck but didnt knw it exceeded the limit,do they still honor it?or is it my loss..thanks

Cheryl said...

Sali, if there is a limit in the ad, that would be the limit on the RC. If there is no limit the store decides the limit, in my experience. At my store if I had a raincheck for a limit more than they thought it should be they would allow me get the limit they would allow and I would loose the rest of the RC. I am not sure if there is any official policy--I have never seen one.

CVS has great customer service, too, and they may be able to answer specific questions about the rain check you have for at 800shopcvs.
