Share Your CVS Shopping Trip for the Weekly Ad of 8/21/2011

Did you find any good deals  from the CVS Weekly Ad of 8/21 to purchase?  If you blog about your shopping trip I'd love for you to put a link to your post (a link back would be appreciated, but not necessary); and if you don't blog please leave a comment below.  I really enjoy seeing what others get and it is a great way to learn how to CVS.  I learned from reading and reading and reading what
others did. I am still learning!

PLEASE NOTE:  ONLY link up to your CVS shopping post directly, all others will be removed.  I have had readers mention too many links are not to CVS shopping posts. I have not had the time over the last several weeks to check the links as I was in the beginning.  I hope to start again this week.

If you have a linky on your blog and are linking up here, add "link up" to your title below so readers can link up at your blog, too.

If you'd like to see some saavy shopping at other stores, or if you'd like to link up your CVS deals trips to other places here are a few to check out.  If you are a blogger and have a weekly savings linky and would like it added, leave a link to it in a comment below and I will add it.

Last week I was lucky enough to get a $3 off any Revlon coupon from the scanner, so I bought a colorburst lipstick, $6.99 get 5.00 extra bucks and turned it into a $1 money maker! I got 'rosy nude' which is beautiful!

I printed the Skittles/Starburst $1 off coupons you posted about last week, and sure enough, a sale came along as you predicted it might :) I combined this with the weekly buy one get one free scanner coupon, got 2 bags of Starburst jelly beans at 2.99 each, the BOGO scanner coupon took off $4.29 (the 'up to' price) automatically, combined with the printed Qs they were a 29c money maker!

Good thing I had a filler to eat up all the negatives :) Kettle brand potato chips on sale for $2.50, minus a $1 off printable.

I paid with $5 extra bucks and 21c, got back $5 extra bucks... what a GREAT week! :)

Wow, you did have a great week. Nice on the candy coupon combo. I love when my extra bucks come out to just what I used, too.

Here was my trip today:

Bengay $5.89
Schick Hydro Refills $8.49
Colgate Optimal $2.99
Lipton Tea $2.49
Revlon Lipstick $6.99

-%5/$25 CVS Scanner Coupon
-$5/1 Bengay IP (no longer available)
-$2/1 Schick Hydro Refills
-$1/1 Revlon Cosmetic Product
-$9 ECBs from last week
=$4.85 OOP and got back $15 ECBs!

Not bad considering I really just wanted to get the Schick Hydro Refills for my hubby. I love being able to get more stuff and basically spend the same! Thanks!

Emily, it is fun to only really need to get one thing but be able to work it so you end up with much more. CVSing is so fun if you like a challenge (with big rewards). You had a great week.

I don't see a linky, so here's the link to my post:

I had a $0 OOP week!!!

I did the Bounty ea for the 10ECB. I bought 3 and had 3 $1.00 off couponsand I also bought 2 Mitchum for 1.99 and had 2 .75 cents off coupons. I earned another 5 ECB from the Beauty Club. I then bought a can of Goodstart formula for 21.99 and used the 15 in ECB, sweet!

I went back this evening because I had noticed that my CVS had the pocket on the go Kleenex for sale for .69 cents each and I had 2 coupons for .40 off 3.

I have a quesion for you. The Arm and Hammer Detergent and dryer Cloths are b1g1. I have coupons for $1.00 off 2, can I use that on 2 when I am getting oneof those free? I hope that makes sense, Thanks!! Jen

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Odd, Patrice, I can see it (it is in the middle of the post). Thanks for sharing here.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Jen, I have not seen this addressed directly. But when they explained that you could not use two manu. coupons on a bogo sale it was because the two ring up and count as one item. If that is the case than you could not. But I am not sure. I can't wait until they put out the written policy and I hope it covers all of the scenarios. You can call 800shopcvs and ask--hopefully they will have an answer.

Cheryl, I am going to CVS this morning so I will let you know what happens.

So I'm a little confused ..

$1 x 2 MQ's for Revlon
Store Q $3 off Revlon Cosmetics (Nice surprise!)

Okay, I'm back. I was able to use the Arm and Hammer $1.00 off 2 on the b1g1 free items. This is my haul from this morning.

2 Clorox wipes 2/5 plus 2 .25 off coupons
6 Arm and Hammer with oxiclean Detergents $7.39 b1g1 free with 3 $1.00 off of 2 coupons
2 Arm and Hammer 2 in 1 Dryer Sheets $4.89 b1g1 free plus $1.00 off 2 coupon
2 409 2/5 plus 2 .50 coupons
2 Clorox Bathroom Cleaner plus 2$1.00 off 2

I accidently gave 2 $1.00 coupons when I should have only given 1 but she rang it, just realized it now and somehow she ran an extr .25 off coupon. I ended up paying 36.37 and saved 51.35 and I got a $1.00 ECB for my bagtag.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Carol, I don't know if you can or not--the new rules are confusing, but I think you probably could because it is a coupon not a sale so I don't know--sorry.

You did have a very good week!

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Thanks, Jen. It used to be so simple :-). Your cleaning supplies are stocked now.

My trip from yesterday:

1 Hydro 5 cartridges $8.49
-$2 MFR q

1 Colgate Optic White toothpaste $2.99

1 Garnier Face Moisturizer SPF 15 $8.49

-25% coupon-only took off $1.49 (I have no idea how the system would come up with that amount. It seemed to adjust it after my ECBs were entered)
-$11 ECB

Subtotal: $5.48
Earned: $5 for Hydro and $2 for Colgate
This transaction made me think that I possibly need to start a CVS support group. I had a $6 ECB, which would have made sense to use since it isn't that big of deal to lose the $.52 ECBs even though I wasn't quick enough to think of a filler. Instead I spent my money. So I am going to save my ECBs but spend my money? Seems a bit nutty to me but oh well. I have $12 ECBs for next time and I needed the face lotion. At least I did manage to take a week off a couple of weeks ago.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Kristen, I used to do the same thing. I also used to get a filler and spend up to 20 cents say so I wouldn't loose a quarter of ECBs. Sarah taught me she would rather loose a quarter ECB than spend a quarter--now I loose some. If it's about 50 cents I grab the peanut butter crackers that are .40. Nice trips, btw.

Kristen said...

I agree with Sarah. This trip was just hard to plan for though because of the 25% coupon. I really had no idea what it would take off and the cashier didn't get it either. I still came out ahead and I actually use gift cards earned from my credit card rewards so technically I didn't pay anything. Love CVS and your site.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Love those free GC's, Kristen. Those 25% off coupons are impossible to figure ahead of time.

I stopped by my CVS in Long Island, NY just to see what i could score because i was not interested in any of the deals this week, and found a lot of Revlon, Sally Hansen, Rimmel NYC other cosmetics on sale, the sign is posted at 50% off but most items have the 75% off sticker and they are indeed scanning at 75%.
Here is what i got:
3- Revlon ColorStay $6.99 - This was a surprise bonus package, 2 instead of just one
4- Sally Hansen Diamond 12 hour lip treatment $7.99 ea ($31.96) - 75% off
1- Rimmel lasting finish lipgloss $9.99 - 75% off
1- Rimmel Eyeful crayon $8.89 - 75%
1- Sally Hansen nail art pen $9.99 - 75% off
2- Sally Hansen continuous Nail Treatment $11.79 ea ($23.58) - 75% off
1- Sally Hansen nailShine miracle $10.99 - 75% off

1- Sally Hansen colorquick fast dry nail color pen $11.29 - 75% off
1- NYC eyeshadow $2.99 - 75% off
1- NYC color wheel mosaic $4.99 - 75% off

Used 2 -$1/1 SH nail treatment
2 -$1/1 SH nail product
3 -$1/1 Revlon product
2- $2/1 Rimmel
1- CVS $2/2 NYC
3- $5 ECB
1- $3 ECB

The Revlon I did a 1 trans test because since it was in clearance and was a bonus (2) pack I didn't think it was going to work, it was marked down to $5.79 and surpriseeee, they scanned at $6.99, i inmediatly knew it was going to print the ECB

Did a second and third transaction with another Revlon Lip and then a fourth with the rest of items

Total after coupons and discounts $25.13 - Paid with gift card OOP $0

Nature made had the B1GI. I used the $5/$15 nature made and $2/1 nature made from the coupon machine and a $1/1 from one of the recent inserts for a grand total of $2 for 2 bottles.
