Problems Reported on Email Coupons Loaded to CVS Card

A reader reported on the Simply CVS Facebook page that she received a $5 off coupon to load to her card. Which she did. The next day she received a 25% off coupon to load to card--which she did.  When she shopped she was told she could not use both and said fine, she choose to use the 25% off coupon. They said that was not possible until she used the $5 off coupon that was loaded first.  She called customer service and
was told the same thing and that she should not have loaded the first coupon on and then she could have used the second one--which is irrelevant because she had no way to know the second one would be offered to her.

I just wanted to share this with you so you could be aware of this issue when uploading coupons to your card from your email or online account.  This is a new feature and I am sure there will be kinks to work out.  I have not received any coupons yet that could be uploaded to my card so I have no experience with it to share.

How do you get coupons to load on your CVS Care Card?

Shannon, I have never done it or had the option. Apparently some emails that are sent have the option in the email and also on your account at CVS.com there is supposed to be the option for loading them there, too, if any are offered.

I have used the option, received via e-mail; I choose the upload option and when I scanned my card at the store, I got the coupon $5 off $25. I have an account at CVS.com so the email I received already had my account #. I have only used it once and it worked fine.

I just wanted to point out this was already explained in the couponCVS gave out with the $5 off 25 coupon. I didn't get the 25%.

It states: ATTENTION! By clicking the send to card button your coupon will be applied to your NEXT purchase.

So it makes sense the coupons are being applied one after another in a row and can only be used like that. I just printed out my coupon to save myself the hassle.

Great info, Anon. I have not seen one of these yet at all. I never get them so I had no idea the details. Thanks sooooo much for that clarification.

I tried this for the first time Thursday. I was checking my ECB balance online and saw the $5/25 coupon available where you would normally see your ECBs. It gives you the option to print or send to card. Just for the heck of it, I sent it to the card. Went into CVS later, bought a little over $25 and as soon as the cashier totaled the transaction, the $5 off magically appeared on the screen. As for the % off, I received that email to print or send to card, it didn't work because I checked my account first and printed it from there. The email came waaay later. Thanks for the heads up on the % off / $ off problem. I will not load more than one just to be safe.

I received both of these as well and sent both to my card, however I used the 25% off first then received an email the next day for $5 off $25 which I used today. So both went through fine...but when the 25% off went through it seemed to confuse the cashier and he kept hitting a key on the register, not sure what that was about though.

Someone was having this same problem at the register in front of me yesterday.

I wonder if the two coupons mentioned above could be printed out on the magic machine at CVS instead of loading them on the card. That would avoid this issue ,wouldn't it?

Yeah, I read that when looking at the page, but I opted to just print mine for that very reason. I just decided that I'd like to choose which coupons I wanted to use. ;)

I was afraid there would be kinks to work out when I saw the email that had that as an option. I prefer to have it printed to hand over so i have proof =) BUt I was sad about this one because usually when they send them out, they will be good through the Sunday, but mine was only good through saturday, and since I had already been for the week, it wasn't much use to me. I do hope they go back to staying valid until Sunday. I liked that because then you could choose the week to use it on.

Just print them off and you shouldn't have a problem. That's what I did.

Thanks so much for this post! If I hadn't seen this, I never would have checked my ECB acct on cvs.com and would have missed out on the $4/$20 coupon. I decided to print mine just to be on the safe side :) Thanks again!

@ Coupon Clipper, since they came in emails they would not be offered at the Kiosk unfortunately. They can be printed at home, though, but I know a lot of people like the idea of not wasting the ink and paper.

@ Amanda, some have been thru Sun and some Sat--seems really strange different shoppers get different ones. I, too, like them in my hand--I'm very visual with my coupons :-).

@ Lee--great!! Enjoy!
