One More Update on CVS Coupon Policy and Buy one Get one Free Sales

Didie at We Use Coupons called CVS customer service and asked about the use of coupons with a Buy one get one free sale in light of the recent change in the policy on the B1G1 Free coupons and Cents off coupons that I reported on yesterday.  She was told the following:  You Cannot use 2 coupons on a BOGO sale as in the past (only one coupon on the one you are paying for) and you CAN use a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale--making both items free, like in the past.  If CVS would post a coupon policy it would be so much easier to keep track of.  If you are ever in doubt about coupon usage at CVS you can call 800shopcvs and talk with a customer service rep--they are great.  Now, it can take time for all CVS stores to start implementing this, but apparently Emails were sent out by CVS to their stores on July 1.

I am a litle confused. So you can't use 2 MFQ coupons on a BOGO sale (1 per item)? Can you stack CVS coupon w/MFQ coupon on a BOGO sale?

Cheryl said...

No, only ONE for the two items in the B1G1 sale. Yes, you can still use a CVS and a MFQ together, but only one of each per two items.

Just a heads up too. I was at CVS lately & they wouldnt take my internet smartsource coupons. I called customer service & they said they are temporarily not accepting them due to fraud. I'm sure it will vary by store though & whether or not they know the new policy.

How about when it is NOT a BOGO SALE, just a BOGO coupon with a cents off. Example: Gillette Body Wash. Use 1 BOGO coupon and a $ amount off 1.? Can we still do that if its not in combination with a bogo sale.

thanks, Anon, for the info about Smartsource.

Anon, no you cannot. That was in the first post I put up (link in the post above). You can no longer use the $/1 with a B1G1 coupon.

Just wanted to let you know the information I was given today when I called CVS Corp. to verify this information. (I teach couponing classes in my area, and my sis is a manager at a local CVS store.)

*You can use a BOGO coupon with a BOGO sale and pay only the sales tax.
*You can use (2) $$ off one item or (1) $$ off two items in a BOGO sale.
*If using a BOGO coupon on items that are not part of a BOGO promotion, you can also use $$ off one item CVS coupon PER ITEM. You can NOT use another manufacturer's coupon with this offer.

It would be so much easier if they would just publish the coupon policy, so everyone would have it as a reference.

Mom, I am so tired of them not having a written policy. You can call two different reps and get two different answers, too. The report I found, the gal called twice and got the same answer both times. Now you get a different answer. And then you can go in the store and they will do something completely different. A little hard to relay correct information on this site or in your classes.

Thanks for the information.

This is really frustrating. I wish they would put the coupon policy on their website so we would have a reference. I would hate to have my scenario planned out thinking one thing, get to the store and not be able to do it as planned.

Has anyone said why they won't put the coupon policy on their website?

Emily, I have never heard why. I am thinking maybe we should write letters asking if they would consider it.

Their reason for not putting up the policy on their website is b/c they say they have the right to change it at any time. I have told them when I have called that they could post it w/ a disclaimer saying the policy could change at anytime without notice.... just like all of the other stores. I know, that really isn't a good reason. It isn't very hard to go in to change a policy as needed.

My sister said she didn't receive an email stating the policy would be changing. I have called 3 or 4 times in the past couple months to get confirmation on these rumored changes. I have a friend that has called also, and the policies I posted earlier were what they confirmed.

Have a wonderful weekend!
