$5 & $10 Scenarios for CVS Weekly Ad of 7/24/2011

Below are deal scenarios for the CVS ad for the week of 7/24 for shoppers just starting their CVS shopping adventure or who do not have any or many extra bucks on hand and do not want to spend much cash.  There are scenarios for under $5 out of pocket cash and $10 out of pocket cash.

Beginning CVSing and building up extra bucks so one can keep them rolling week after week takes time.  By investing just $5 or $10 a week
for the first month to six weeks to get the extra bucks built up would allow a shopper then to keep rolling that $20 to $50 of extra bucks each week into new extra bucks.  It is like spending the same money over and over again.

Yes, those $5/25's are nice--I never get either those or the % off. Maybe you'll get one next week.

Do you know what time the new ads go "live" at the 24 hour locations? Is it midnight? Just trying to figure out when to go... it's so hot outside, that I'm thinking going just after midnight would be ideal! Thanks for your help.

Cheryl said...

I have heard both 10 and midnight--it would be best to call your local store and ask as sometimes it varies. Definitely would be cooler.

Well I just came back from doing the deals and my math was wrong. I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket for the 2nd transaction so I am a really happy camper!

Love when a plan comes togther!!!

Cheryl -

I'm ashamed to say that I used to think you were a little nutty about giving over your ECB first and then MC to cover tax, but I did this today and paid . . . drum roll . . . $0.33 for $75 worth of stuff - sale-priced. The poor college kid checker just kept double checking the receipt over and over. Part of the problem was that I also got back $10 ECB from the Skintimate shave gel (made ~ $2.75), $3 from the 3 Softsoaps (free), $2 from the Crest (free), $6 from the Renu (free), $2 from the Kotex ($0.49), $2 from the pens (free), along with a ton of other stuff. I'm missing some of my stuff here because I got back $35 in ECB (rain checks), but my husband about fell out of his chair. I wish I could share a photo of his face every time I come home from CVS. And he wonders why I'm in there for an hour every Sunday.

I haven't seen anyone mentioning this on their CVS deals for this week, but today I was in there and wanted to look at the Tylenol Precise to see how much that was going to be after Qs & ECBs...well it was not a great deal, BUT the ECBs are also on Bengay products and the original Bengay cream is $5.79. I still had the $5 Qs from coupons.com not too long ago, so paid $0.79 OOP and got the $2 ECBs back! So a $1.21 MM!

Cheryl said...

LOL, Anon--about the tax, the clerk AND hubby's face :-). Those great deals can take a while to put together, but I am sure to many people and hour in a small store like CVS sounds like an eternity.

Cheryl said...

Great transaction, Steve!! And your ECB's are the same as when you started--always a great feeling.

Cheryl said...

Yes, Lori, that is a great deal. I still have my $5 coupon, too. I wasn't sure how much it was, but had read it was about $6. Thanks for sharing.

Cheryl said...

Susan, now that's the way to mis-figure. Do I detect an A-Team fan?

I was reading Steve's scenario and wondered whether or not I could use a coupon on one of the razor's with the BOGO coupon also?

I've gotten (3) $5/$25 in the last week! One in an e-mail, and two from the magic machine both times I went in! I have plans to use one with the razors, Skintimate shave cream and BenGay.

I'll be going back for the 4/$5 cookies later this week (since one of my coupons attaches to milk and I don't need it yet. :) Luckily, I still have the $5.99 Dove candy raincheck to help me get up to that $25 on the next trip but I need to go back and check out the matchups again.
Thanks for all the help!.. I've learned so much here!

Pat, sounds like CVS is raining savings upon you :-). Here is my standard answer for B1G1 coupons and cents off--sorry I can't be of more help:

B1G1 coupons can be attached to either one item or two, depending on how they are coded. You should be able to use a cents off ONE coupon with a B1G1 coupon. Give the cents off coupon first. If the B1G1 coupon is attached to both items it will beep, if not, it will go right thru. I have no exact answer to which coupons will and will not beep as I have not tried them all—but I personally just try it. I have read that sometimes cashiers put them thru manually if they beep, some do not. So this is one of those variables in CVS shopping—and why I wrote the post “The Thrill of Victory and The Agony of Defeat.”
