Share Your CVS Shopping Trip for the Weekly Ad of 6/5/2011

Did you find any good deals  from the CVS Weekly Ad of 6/5 to purchase?  If you blog about your shopping trip I'd love for you to put a link to your post (a link back would be appreciated, but not necessary); and if you don't blog please leave a comment below.  I really enjoy seeing what others get and it is a great way to learn how to CVS.  I learned from reading and reading and reading what
others did. I am still learning!

PLEASE NOTE:  ONLY link up to your CVS shopping post directly, all others will be removed.  I have had readers mention too many links are not to CVS shopping posts. I have not had the time over the last several weeks to check the links as I was in the beginning.

If you have a linky on your blog and are linking up here, add "link up" to your title below so readers can link up at your blog, too.

If you'd like to see all of this week's deals check out all of the posts for CVS weekly deals for the weekly ad of 6/5.

If you'd like to see some saavy shopping at other stores, or if you'd like to link up your CVS deals trips to other places here are a few to check out.  If you are a blogger and have a weekly savings linky and would like it added, leave a link to it in a comment below and I will add it.

Not too much I needed this week, but I think I did OK for what I got! Thanks for your tips!

You did do great, Marella! I love seeing these shops--I am still always surprised by what can be done.

Cindi, some weeks are definitely slower than others. Glad to help!

I was out of the country for 2 weeks so wasn't able to go to CVS (tragic!) so this Sunday was my first trip in a while. Got:
-Crest Pro-health rinse $4.50-$2 PG
-Oral B Pulsar $6-$3 PG
-2 X 8ct Exedrin 99c each
-Colgate MaxClean TP $2.79-$1 SS (must be regional? previews said 75c. mine are often different, i.e. I often get $1 off 2 instead of 50c off 1 previewed coupons... messes up things when ECB deals are limit 1)
-5 X Vitamin waters 1.00 each-$1/5 printable
-CVS brand face scrub (I'd been needing it, haven't seen any good deals, and this was marked on 50% off clearance--score!) $3.64

I had a $4 off 20 via email, coupons mentioned above, and $7.00 total in extra bucks. OOP = $6.xx, got back over $10 in ECBs for later. Probably could've lowered my OOP if I paid for the face scrub separately but I decided not to bother.

If you're having trouble finding the 8ct Exedrins--look in the travel section--my store had none on the regular pain killers shelf, but had tons in the travel sized bins.
So glad to be back shopping at CVS!

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Hope you had a great time out of the country, Anon, even with a CVS :-). I actually am thinking about taking one of my free CVS Gift cards and just doing one transaction and getting a bunch of ECBs again so I can quit doing multiple transactions. I used to have so many I never needed to do more than one and it was so nice, so I understand what you are saying about it is not worth it sometimes.

I spent $4.99 OOP, including tax, this week and got 4 12pks. of Coke, 1 Tide Stain Release, 1 Dawn with Olay dish soap, 2 Oral B Pulsar toothbrushes, 2 Crest Pro Health Rinse, 5 Honest Tea, and 2 Colgate MaxFoam toothpaste. I used $26 in ECB's plus coupons to pay and got back $21 in ECB's. A great week at CVS!

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Great week for sure, Julie!

Megan said...

Went to get my morning Starbucks and decided to swing by CVS. Got John Frieda Full Repair Shampoo and Conditioner and 3 Excedrins all for $.77, plus $5 ECBs. :) Nothing like making money to get your week started!

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Megan, sounds like it was a good decision to stop :-).

SuzyQpon said...

I spent a lot OOP this week but I had depleted my ECB and I needed quite a bit. This might look odd - my CVS accepts competitors coupons so I used some of those:

Trans #1:
Oral B 6 ct brush heads (rain check) $29.99
USED $5/$30 purchase
PAID $26.24

Trans #2:
2 Oral B Pulsar brushes - 2 $3 Qs
1 Coke 2 Lt. - $1 Q
1 Metamucil - $2 Q and $1 Target Q
2 Crest mouthwashes - 2 $2 Qs
2 Gillette body washes - B1G1 Q ($3.99) and $2 Q and $1 Target Q
2 John Freidas - 2 $2 Qs (we did not get the $5 in our area) & 1 $3/2 Target Q
Huggies Pull Ups - used FREE Q
2 Colgates - 2 $1 Qs and 2 $1 CVS Qs
2 Nivea shave gels - 2 $2 Qs & $1 Target Q

used $20 from 1st trans
USED $5 ECB from emailed survey
PAID $2.33 OOP

TOTAL $28.57 OOP for $149.12 (+ whatever tax would be) in merchandise and $22 in ECB for the future. I could have spent less OOP if I split my trans up more but the store was packed and I didn't want to be a nuisance! :)

Diana said...

Well Idk if I did pretty bad here's my trip:
Trans 1)
Bought 5 vitamin waters used $1 off coupon
Used the 2 ecb on 3/$2 come..4.22 oop :/
Trans 2)
Bought ban deodorant w/o coupon cuz I couldn't find one
Used the 2 ecb on 2 dawn hand renewal + .50 coupon, $1 nail polish, .33 chocolate...4.10 oop

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Great savings, Suzy! I, too, did more OOP today and just two transactions--and considered doing just one but decided on two. Sometimes time is worth a little more than the savings.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Valencia, I'd say that was a pretty great shopping trip! nice job "using" those $14 ecbs.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

DiR3y3s, some weeks you will have more out of pocket. Check your receipts and see what it says you saved. Add the two together and see how much you saved--that is what is encouraging. You did great using the ecbs from #1 on #2 so you had less out of pocket.

Diana said...

Hi Cheryl,

I had a pretty good week at CVS. You can see on my blog. Question for you though. Can you get a rain check on an item that is still in stock at CVS? For example I want another oral b pulsar tooth brush, but am waiting on another coupon. Can I get a rain check just in case the coupon doesn't come before saturday?

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

No, Diana, you need to hope they run out :-). I hope you get the coupon or the rain check.

Kayde Root said...

I may come back and post later details of my transactions, but so far I've only spent 0.58 oop. Want to do a few more things this week since I keep getting these darn 4/$20's. lol Yesterday, on my grandma's card (I do a lot of shopping for her since she doesn't want to do it) it gave me $5/$15 that exp. tomorrow. So yeah, I tend to aim not to spend more than a 1.00 oop on any transactions since I use a spreadsheet to build my transactions. :) Thank you for all your posts that help me along my journey!

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Oh, Kayde, you have me drooling over here!! To have just one $/$$ would thrill me. congrats and have fun!!

Kayde Root said...

Cheryl, I wish I could share them! cause I think the store manager in my store thinks I'm crazy since I'm in there every other day and hardly spend anything oop.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

LOL, Kayde, I imagine you may feel funny once in a while, but if your manager is anything like mine he knows it is good for his store sales numbers and will be glad to see you. Would love to hear your total OOP and total Savings when the week is thru :-). OH, and I wish you could share them, too.

Diana said...

If you forget to bring coupons can you come in the next day for an adjustment? I know I have a lot of was my first day using coupons..I was nervous LOL

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

DiR, it can be very nerve wrenching at first :-). Even later. Some stores will allow you do that, you just need to check. Take the product and cash register tape with you and of course the coupons. They may need to re-ring it.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

And, DiR, asking questions and trial and error is how you will learn, so keep it up and you will be saving more than you ever imagined.

Marianne said...

I got:
2 Crest Pro-Health Rinse
2 Pulsar toothbrushes
2 Excedrin 8 count
2 Colgate toothpaste

I paid nothing OOP because I paid with EB's and had some coupons. I got more EB's back. I didn't total everything but was very pleased.
And I know this is a CVS blog, but at Walgreens I actually made $4 by buying 4 Reach toothbrushes; with coupons the total came to 0.00 and I got $4 in Register Rewards. Yay!

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Great job, Marianne. I have had so many issues with Walgreens I stay clear of there.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Maggie, at least overall between the two shops your OOP was way low--averages well below the $2. But I know how you feel--it can be disappointing with the total is more than you expect or plan. And, oh, if you enter those links to your trips in the linky above readers will find it easier to go to since they can just click on it.

nikita58467 said...

Thanks Cheryl! I know I did ok but just because of the last minute change of mind to get a more expensive newspaper makes the total more than I expected. I was just annoyed at myself :).

Sorry about the linky. I totally didn't notice that's where I suppose to put them!

I also did the Reach Toothbrush deal in Walgreens which is the first time I shop there. I have a $2.50 off 2 Reach items coupon so I scored two Reach toothbrushes for $2.50 plus tax and got 4 RR back. I found Walgreens in some catagories are cheaper than CVS even in NYC. They also do Catalina deals so makes it even sweeter. However, the RR expires about 12 days or so which makes it harder to plan with Walgreens.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

I have seen some great shops from Walgreens, Maggie, it is just we do not have friendly ones here and the deals wouldn't work and they'd make all kinds of excuses why. I didn't realize the RRs expired so quickly--I did know you couldn't use RRs on the same product like you can extra bucks. Thankfully my CVS is 7 minutes away where as the Walgreens are 30.

Marianne said...

I find CVS is a lot easier to shop at. The problem with the Walgreens Reg. Rewards is that they consider them a coupon, and they require that you have one item per coupon. So that can get tricky. It's much easier at CVS because you can use all the EB's you want and it doesn't matter how many items you have.
Thanks for this great blog!

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Marianne, that sounds like it would require a lot fillers. Actually, I have not been to Walgreens since they start RRs I had enough problems before :-). You are welcome, btw.

Oral B Pulsar $6
Crest Pro Health Rinse $4.50
Excedrin 8 ct $0.99
Colgate Toothbrush $2.79
Revlon Eye Shadows $7.89
-Used $4 off $20
-10.50 ECB
-$3 Oral B Toothbrush
-$2 Revlon Cosmetics
-$0.35 Colgate Toothbrush
-$2 Crest Rinse
Subtotal $0.32 Tax $1.03 (miscalculated the ECB to use. Tax could be a tiny bit lower)
Total $1.35 Got 13.49 ECB (including 1 Green Tag Bag)
What an awesome day to stock up on ECB for next week!

Cheryl you are right about Walgreens! They only allow one coupon per item which is not helping to save much at all! I have 4 RR and have to figure out what to do with it before it expire :(

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Another great job, Maggie. I'm thinking about turning some of my gift cards into extra bucks by just checking out once, paying and getting the ecbs so it is easier again--"stocking up" like you said. Have to think on that one.

It really was a great week at CVS:

2 John Frieda Full Repair Root Lift Foam-$10
2 John Frieda Root Awakening Conditioner-$10
2 Excedrin-8 ct- $1.98
1 Colgate Max Toothpaste-$2.79
1 Dawn Dishwashing Liquid-$.99
1 Kotex U Tampons-18 count-$5.49 (I messed up my calculation since they were out of the vitaminwater and so had to throw these in since using a $10 ECB)

2 $5 off John Frieda Full Repair (I never seem to get the "regional" coupons so I was excited about this.)
2 $2 off John Frieda Any
1 $.75 off Colgate
1 $2 Excedrin from CVS scanner
1 $4/20 from CVS scanner

Used $10 ECB
Total: $.50 + tax
Paid with gift card received online
Earned: $3 ECB for John Frieda, $2 for Colgate Max and $1.98 for Excedrin

I saw somewhere that the limit was 2 for the John Frieda but on my ad it says one and I only received one. I can't complain though since I paid 0+tax for the full repair.

Thank you Cheryl for your great work. I also love swagbucks but get the e-certificates.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Wow, Melissa, what a week!! With all of those $4/20's you not only gt a bunch of free stuff but they do make your extra bucks increase when used how you use them--congrats and enjoy!

You all did great this week! I saved 90%--On eof my best weeks ever! I got (1) 8 pk. bounty paper towels, (1) Huggies Jumbo pk. diapers, (2) oral-B pulsar toothbrushes, (2) Crest pro-health rinse 1L, (1) John Frieda Hair color, (1) Suave professionals shampoo, and (1) small bag of Mini reese's cups (filler item.) all for $7.31!!!!! No extra bucks to roll for next week, but a very good trip nonetheless!

I couldn't get it to work with the linky so,here is the link to my blogpost if you wanna see how I did it!

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Holly, don't you just love seeing those "high priced" national brand products so inexpensive? You did great. You'll be able to get going again next week. sorry the linky didn't work, I'll go try and put yours in for you and see if it will take it.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Kristen, great job--and great save on the overage of the $10 extra buck!! The limit on the JF is for the month and it is two but it has to be done in two transactions to get the extra bucks. The bottom of your receipt probably shows you can do it again. Sorry for the confusion--I know that is noted in the monthly deal, but I bet I forgot to mention it in the ECB deals--will check that and change it.
