CVS Shopping for Donations ~ Preparing for Couponing for Community

I often mention donating items I get from CVS.  Well, today I was inspired to notch up my food deals for donating during the Couponing for Community Nationwide event.  Last year, Kaley, from Cha-Ching on a Shoestring started a challenge for couponers to use their skills and join together to donate during the week of May 2 thru 8.  Here is her final report:  "As a group of bloggers and
readers, we donated over 3155 items to food pantries, homeless shelters, abused women’s shelters, animal rescue shelters, friends in need, and to the Stamp Out Hunger drive."

Well, she is gearing up for another year and I am anxious to join in the fun of sharing thru couponing.  I received an email today saying they are getting a Facebook page together in preparation.  Here is the info from her page:

"Couponing for Community is a nationwide event utilizing the power of couponing and social media to make a united impact for those in need.

We invite you to join this community of couponers nationwide by using your couponing skills to give to a homeless shelter, food pantry, or a friend in need during the week of May 8-14!
May 14 is also National Stamp Out Hunger Day. Check with your local Post Office to find out if they are participating and learn more at"

I will keep reports of what I get at CVS to donate and save it all to donate that week. I will be getting items from other stores, too, but want to emphasize CVS here, of course.  If you would like to  join in stop by Coupon For Community Facebook page and like them and watch Simply CVS for more information and my deals and share your donation purchases with us here.  It would be fun for our own CVSer community to keep track of how many items we donate that week--we'll see where we can go with this.

My only food pantry donation item last week was a jar of Coffee Mate. Since I will be donating this thru my chruch's food pantry, I will pick up some instant coffee to go with it and they will see that they are given out together.

I just love giving. When I can make money on an item then give it to someone in need that makes it twice as good. I have found that the coupon community is one of the most giving groups of people and I love reading about how and what they gave.

Anon, I think you are right. I have met some amazingly generous people in the couponing community online.

Thank you so much for posting this!!! I have 2 boxes of things in my garage that I am planning to donate. Now I can link up and see what others are doing! I belong to a coupon group that just got started and I am going to ask them to get involved as well! My husband thinks I'm a little crazy when I come home with random things we don't/can't use but I know someone can and when I can get them free or better, I do! I recently scored 20 boxes of pasta totally free - bag credit covered the taxes! Can't wait to donate it. Thanks again.

You're welcome, SuzyQ, I think it is so fun to join together with others to give. The pasta is something that is often requested.
