Problem with Kodak Buy one get one Coupon & Photo Books

A reader commented earlier this evening about being told by CVS that the photo book that is on sale b1g1 free this week is not a Kodak book, tho it is printed on the Kodak Kiosk, but is a CVS photo book so the b1g1 free printable coupons cannot be used.  Here is what Kimberly said:
"I just got back from CVS and off the phone with CVS and OMGolley! That Kodak Q has caused some MAJOR problems.

Apparently, they are two different books even though they are being printed on Kodak paper. At first CVS states they were trying to keep customers happy, but Kodak has "capped" them and said CVS would NOT be reimbursed for additional coupons.

CVS states they are working with Kodak to make customers happy, but until then....

I had to hold 8 minutes at 6pm tonight and "Herman" the CVS Rep I was talking to said the hold time was due to the high call volume due to that one coupon. They have been flooded with calls today.

I'll call Kodak tomorrow and see how they can make this work. "

So, if you haven't already purchased your book be sure and show the coupon to the cashier before you make the book to see if they will accept them.

UPDATE 12/30:  The Saga continues.  Mary left the following comment on another post:

"I went tonight at 7pm to CVS in sarasota,FL and i made 2 photo books at the kodak kiosk to "test" if I would get them for free and they were:) It took about 3-4 minutes to clarify and show the cvs policy letter that i printed(thanks to Cheryl). I told the cvs rep that i would be back tomorrow to do 2 more and he said "sure,if you have the coupon". i paid $1.16:)

Regarding the cvs/kodak book, i asked the photo lab specialist on Monday if the cvs books were different than the kodak books and he told me that the only photo books they carry are KODAK photo books."

Thanks, I'm so glad to stumble on your blog (again) and read this. You're bookmarked now!! :)

I have a bargain blog and told people about it and I would absolutely hate knowing that I wasted people's time. Thank you so much for the update! I'll be making calls tomorrow before in invest time.

Oh, Juli, I feel the same way. But everyone thought this was the right coupon and CVS even took it for the first few days and then the problems came up. I hope everyone sees this--I have edited all my other posts with this in it, too, hoping everyone sees it.

Glad to hear you have bookmarked Simply CVS.

Oh my Cheryl, what a mess it is, and yes it is frustrating, when it is so much hassle.

I have good news to share this time....I finally got my two photobooks that were on hold. The manager was not there, when I went to pick them up, so I had to deel with the rude manager from the other day....however, he did not say a word. I am sure that he had been updated, and I was happy to get my books.

I have decided that four books and all of the hassle is enough for me, that last coupon will end up being wasted, because I seriously do not want to deal with this again.

I also wanted to add that CVS in S. FL still only has 50% off their Christmas stuff and candy. I lucked out at Target this morning, but I'll have to make a big post about it.

Glad it worked out, JR. Anxious to see your Target deals post. This is why CVSing is a job--you never know for sure what will work each time. Well, it is just once in a while, but it is so hard for newbies especially. I try to keep everyone abreast of it all.

Asking for advice. My cvs simply refuses to accept a BOGO coupon with a BOGO deal (even though they had no problem with it when I was purchasing sobes.)

What did you guys do? Was there a part of the website that you printed out? An email that can be printed that has the policy on it?

Cheryl said...

Dee, CVS does not have a written policy and they now no longer answer questions via emails. I have a copy of an older I received in the "CVS Policies" link under the banner if you want a copy. You can call 800shopcvs, I have been told there about it, but once in a while a rep says no. Another reader commented on a post earlier (I think my weekly shopping trip post if you want to see it) that she asked on their facebook page and they answered there that yes, you can use a b1g1 on a b1g1 sale.
Anyways, if you call get a name of who you talk to. Also, I have read of shoppers calling C.S. right there in the store and they then hand the phone when they get the answer to the manager. Hope this helps.

Though I'd give you an update. Unfortunately, CVS customer service is closed for the holidays! I tried speaking with the store manager again over the phone, and explained the policy and read to him both emails and the twitter post, but he was like "That is not enough. If you want to use that coupon, you must BUY one and can only get ONE free."

So, since they are also closed on the weekends, he said to call on monday, and if the customer service gives the ok, they'll let me have the deal. Given the way this is going, I fully expect the guy to backtrack and tell me the CVS part of the BOGO deal expired already so I'm outta luck. And I really don't want to make too much of a fuss, because this is my favorite CVS (Ginormous, and up until today, really nice about coupons, including BOGO on BOGO deals...)

This is really so upsetting. He told me "you should NOT have gotten other BOGO on BOGO stuff free in the past. We are not in the business of giving stuff away for free." Like, really? You aren't getting fully reimbursed from the manufacturer for the coupons I am using? You're REALLY giving stuff away for free there.

So discouraging, Dee. And yes, I love the "you can't have it for free." Free would be walking in and filling the bag and walking out. You are paying for it with a coupon, not cash, same difference. Also, have you not seen in CVS ads "nothing like free?" In their defense, it is hard to comprehend how couponers do this. But it is all legitimate and above board and within the parameters they set. I feel so bad when readers don't have success in some of these deals. But I still need to share them for those who can.

I hope it finally works out for you. Someone asked CVS on Facebook the other day and they said yes, b1g1 on b1g1 sales.

Oh my what a hassle!

Dee, I really feel for you on this one, I went through something very similar at my store, and CVS customer service was closed at the time. I called last Monday, and I finally picked up my books yesterday....what a hassle though, and I surely do not feel like going back at all.

Make sure that CVS customer service contacts your local CVS to get the issue resolved. This way the manager cannot back down...even if he wants to.

My CVS Photobook Coupon update.

I was also told I could not use this coupon. The actual books are CVS even though the photos are on Kodak paper.

Cheryl said...

So sorry, Anon, this has been crazy. I am still seeing people who are getting them with the coupons as of yesterday and one reader was told by a photo manager that they only sell Kodak books.

Another update, and this time a happy one! I called customer service today, and they called the store right away, and after "a little bit of convincing (her words)" they were able to explain to the store CVS's BOGO on BOGO policy. So I'm getting my photobooks tomorrow! **knock on wood**

Thanks so much for your help. Your site is such an amazing resource to begin with, and having you around to hold our hands when our stores are giving us a tough time is really comforting. Thank you!

That is great news, Dee!! Now if the machine is just in working order.
:-) And thanks so much for letting me know I have been useful to you, it is encouraging.
