Hi Cheryl,

What's your strategy for this sale? Would you buy everything that is a money maker? I guess a few separate transaction would be best to have the least OOP. I will probably have $10-$15 ecb at that time. Just wondered what other people do with these big sales. Thanks!!

Also wanted to let you and others know that most Dollar General stores have blinkies for $1 off Xtra detergent, that would make it free for the Black Friday sale too.

Thanks, Sara, for the heads up on the DG coupons.

Yes, I almost always buy all the money makers--if I can't use them someone can. My strategy is a little different since I have to pay tax now, I actually think thru do I want to spend 8% of the price, or can I justify it.

But I would do several transactions, or at least a few--I'm all about little out of pocket and I have a great CVS to shop at, of course I will probably be out of town that week. I plan to write up a post about this and Sarah is getting together some scenarios for low out of pocket. $15 in extra bucks should help a lot--do the money makers first to build up the extra bucks for the non-money makers and you will have less transactions.

Two years ago was amazing! We each got like $200 worth of stuff and "made" $40 each. So fun!! I am hoping more coupons will come out before then. I'll try to remember in the post I put up about preparing for black Friday to ask readers to share their plans.

This will be my first black friday CVS sale. I've never really paid attention to CVS in the past.

Are the items first come first serve or will rain checks be available? I can see small print under each item but can't tell what they say?

I will actually be in a town with a much bigger CVS than I have here at home. I just know the one here is always out of everything :)

Thanks -

Since I don't have a copy to look at I can't say for sure, MSUWeather, but I think you can rain checks on the regularly stocked items. I know I have gotten them on some things before, but can't remember any details.

I think my plan is....
buy 1 of everything and do it all in one transaction, I buy 2 gallons of milk there every week so I would use the ecbs.
I may change my mind as the sale gets closer.
At the moment just collecting my coupons for the sale.

"Sounds like a plan" (as my daughter would say), Deborah. I ordered coupons yesterday for Sarah, her friend, my mom and myself. I love to have a lot of things coming up to prepare for.

Cheryl, this is a fantastic list. I am definitely going to have to make a CVS stop.

Do you think they will give rain checks for that remote, if it is not there? I remember them not having it last year.

I so need a new remote....

Thank you for doing the CVS Spotlight series at

Frugality Is Free.

We were able to get a rain check for the remote last year--could be a "your mileage may vary" thing though, JR. Happy Thanksgiving & Happy CVSing!! I was hoping this would bring you back into CVS :-).

Finally got paid to shop....LOL. Did three transactions to get the following for FREE after rebates (not counting my ECBs that were left over): 1 Robe (for donation), 2 make up kits (the $2.99 ones for angel tree gifts), 2 colgate toothpastes, 2 Reese's cups, 8ct Advil and Excedrin, 2 Renpure Organics shampoo (with try me free rebates), 1 Gillete deodorant, 1 Old Spice deodorant, and the Phillips in-ear headphones. After rebates, I'll make $3.74.

Thanks for all you have done to educate myself and others. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
