CVS Extra Buck Deals w/coupon match-ups Week of 8/22/2010

Here are the CVS extra buck deals for the week of 8/22.  As you know, saving money while shopping at CVS is easy with their great sales.  But to get the best CVS deals it is necessary to combine those sales with available coupons.  Below is a list of current coupons available—more will most likely come out before the week of these deals and I will

update the list as I find them. Remember to read all the fine print

on the coupons to be sure they match the product in the deal--I don't have them all to look at.

If you don't have many, or any, extra bucks to begin with, check out this tutorial on multiple transactions to have the least out of pocket expense.

If you see any printable coupons you are interested in you may want to print them now before they reach the print limit.  To find current coupons for other CVS deals check out one of these coupon databases:  We Use Coupons or Hot Coupon World.

I got a $5 off $25 in the mail yesterday along with 3 more coupons from CVS, $1 off Bounty, $1 Kelloggs and $1 off something cant remember now.

So all excited I went to the store last night and spent over an hour at the checkout because
1. They would not let me buy any more Sobe (first time this week) but apparently their compaint was that I always buy so many sobe (this time 10) for free.
2. They werent letting me use the $5 off $25 because apprently someone else had already used a coupon like that before me with the same code??? huh!

All said and done bought stuff worth $66, spent .72OOP + $5 ECB got back $17. :)

Thanks for your all your hard work. I am fairly new to couponing and this helps me out ALOT! Seems that the P&G Deal for Bounty is going to be great? Like .43 cents for each roll if you have 2 - $1 off coupons from the paper. What do you think?

Thanks again!

Oh, Jessica, how disappointing! It reminds me of this post I wrote about the thrill of victory/agony of defeat: (http://www.simplycvsshopping.com/2010/07/cvs-shopping-thrill-of-victory-and.html).

I would call customer service--not as a complaint, but tell them about your coupon not working. If it was not expired and came to you personally it should have worked. They may be able to do something--they can't resend it but I know they often just issue an extra buck to print out next time or perhaps they can issue one of those attached to your card to print, I have not come across this problem before, but have read of others getting good results with things "like" this. Their C.S. is tops! It might be worth a try. 800shopcvs

As to the Sobe, they are allowed to limit things, but I don't know what the rules are about it since the ad says limit 6 deals (12 Sobes). you could ask C.S., but it is not a good idea to report the individual store unless there is a major problem because they can get into trouble when it isn't necessary and also they can either then treat you better or worse afterwards.

But you did get a great shop!

Hi, Jamie, so glad you are joining us in CVSing! Good find on the Bounty. P&G items are always so expensive I tend to ignore those deals. But I do try to pay less than $.50/roll for paper towels so this would be great. Thanks for pointing that out, I have one coupon, but it would still be under $.50/roll.

You are welcome, it is encouraging to hear it is helping someone and that I am not just sitting on this side of the computer alone :-).

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Jamie, I just looked at the actual ad for next week for the first time and I see that the 16 count Bounty is really 12 count--it shows a little "12 big" and a large "=16" rolls. I will go in and edit the original post. So the per roll will be higher, but if it truly is equal to 16 rolls the math is actually correct.

I think I have a Mitchum B1G1 scanner coupon. That ought to stack well with the other deals.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

That's a great scanner coupon, Dan. It will make a great item to add--I'm not sure if there is a manufacturer coupon out for that but you can check thru one of the data base links I have in the sidebar of Simply CVS. Just type in Mitchum and it will tell you.

The cashier at my CVS in Fl, told me today that she just wanted to let me know that they are talking to corporate and in future you will have to buy three Sobe to get two for free. I had a great shop today, Oral b toothbrushes on clearance for 74cents, with a bogo coupon, Cottonelle with a coupon from the machine and a mf coupon, 6 Caliber notebooks all free and 6 Sobe all free, plus i bought some sugar free peppermints, those are my weakness, and i only spent $1.35 oop.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

A great trip, Bridget. You about paid for your peppermints and got all the rest free. Often that machine prints out coupons for Gold Emblem candy and they have sugar free peppermints I think, so maybe it will reward your "weakness" one day.

It will be interesting to see if CVS changes their long standing B1G1 coupon policy after the Sobe. This was an unusual run on this deal and brought it to the forefront of everyone's mind because it was so obvious. Thanks for sharing what you heard about it.

when the ad reads "$5 ECB wyb $15"; is the $15 before or after coupons?

Thanks for your time and dedication you put toward this website. It's been a fun adventure learning the coupon experienc.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Hi, so glad you have had fun. Just remember there will be bumps in the road, but overall it is a ride worthwhile.

Yes, it is before coupons--you can virtually pay $0 out of pocket because of coupons and still get the $5.

There are several coupons in the 8/22 SS that make the Glade products ($3ECB wyb $10) a great deal. I know you can't catch them all but I'm a little disappointed.

Cheryl @ Simply Shoeboxes said...

Sorry, Anonymous, when I wrote this post the list for those was not out yet and I had issues in life that kept me from updating when they came out. This is one reason I always mention the coupon data bases and provide the coupon previews when I get them so readers have the sources to check for themselves when necessary. I hope this doesn't happen again and I apologize.
